You can set this field on yourself to specify how the WHO list is sorted. Valid settings begin with a + or - sign, followed by "byon", "byidle" or "byname" (to sort by on time, idle time or name, respectively). A + sorts in ascending order, and a - in descending. The default sort is +byon.
